Runaway Kangaroo Causes Car Crash, Closes Alabama Highway

An unusual incident involving a runaway kangaroo led to a car crash and the temporary closure of a major Alabama highway on Tuesday. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) reported responding to a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 85 southbound, near the 46-mile marker in Macon County.

The incident was caused by a kangaroo that had somehow escaped and wandered onto the highway. The presence of the animal startled drivers, resulting in a collision. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported as a result of the crash. However, the southbound lane of I-85 was temporarily closed to allow authorities to investigate the scene and manage the traffic backup.

Authorities are currently working to locate and safely capture the kangaroo. The circumstances surrounding the animal's escape remain unclear. Motorists are advised to exercise caution in the area and report any sightings of the kangaroo to local law enforcement.
