Former Spelling Bee Champ Becomes Official Pronouncer

Balaji Krishnan, who shared the Scripps National Spelling Bee title in 2015, has taken on a new role: official pronouncer. Krishnan, alongside co-champion Sriram Hathwar, correctly spelled his way to victory nine years ago. Now, he uses his knowledge of words to help current contestants. As a pronouncer, Krishnan's job is to clearly and accurately say the words for the spellers, providing helpful context and definitions when needed.
