Chicken and Bacon Ranch Wraps Recalled Over Listeria Risk

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for specific chicken and bacon ranch wraps. These wraps were sold in retail locations across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York. The alert was prompted by concerns over potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria is a bacterium that can cause listeriosis, a serious infection. Symptoms can include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions, sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms. Listeriosis can be particularly dangerous for pregnant women, newborns, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

FSIS is urging consumers who have purchased these chicken and bacon ranch wraps to dispose of them immediately. Alternatively, consumers can return the wraps to the store where they were purchased for a full refund. Consumers with questions about the recall can contact the USDA or their local health department. The FSIS is continuing to investigate the source of the contamination.
